Marriage & Relationship Counseling

Relationship difficulties can cause significant worry and distress to couples, their children and other family members. Needed changes can come about when both partners participate in confronting the problems and making genuine efforts to change. An experienced counselor can facilitate the process of change by assisting in the following areas:

  • help the couple define their commitment to the relationship
  • objectively assess the source of the problem
  • guide the couple in establishing a pattern of rational and productive communication
  • focus on activities that tend to bring about positive relationship outcomes, such as:
    • developing and displaying mutual respect
    • learning to work as a team
    • acknowledging errors and apologizing
    • strengthening their friendship
    • sharing hopes and dreams
  • keep the couple "on track" as they pursue their goals
