Group Therapy

Group therapy is a type of counseling where several people with similar concerns are seen together as a group. Group therapy is the treatment of choice for certain situations. At Family Counseling Services of Athens we currently offer groups relating to substance abuse, anger management, impulsive sexual behaviors, and veterans readjustment services.

In general Group therapy allows people to see that there are others going through the same thing, which can help them feel less alone. Group members can see how others cope with similar problems and experiences hope that things will get better. Group therapy can also be a place where participants can practice new ways of behaving within the safety and security of the group.
